No, I just think its kind of dumb that you have to wait for crappy balance groups to get to the HoH just to watch what battles are altering the "War of the Worlds".

Rank 100 and below guilds hardly ever make it to the Halls, they're too attached to GvG thinking.

I agree, HoH is often held by guilds that specialize in winning and holding the halls. It is an entirely different game from GvG and requires a completely different sort of tactics. These teams often can wipe out and IWAY team while holding off a spike team.

HoH is not a joke, it is incredibly different and amazing thing.

Funny that no one made the 'never satisfied' comments when everyone was having a fit over the improved AI or the low prices on runes, but somehow they always make them when it comes to PvP.

Well, I've never used a video capture program, but I suspect it won't let me do the things that are truly useful in a replay - in short, all the things that Observer mode lets us do (change which character has the focus, etc).

I don't want a saved replay just so I can watch the same thing I saw while I was fighting. I want to view the other parts of the battlefield, observe what skills a character used, etc.

I don't understand wht you are after here. Wou can do all these things far easier than a football coach can. I think I know what you need, here is how to fix your problem.

-unclick the stupid autocamera thing at the top right
-hit "P" to bring up the party window
-on the party window, click the grey button to make another party window
-hit the colored button by the grey one that is not highlighted

You now have a party window for both teams and can actually see what they are doing.

In my opinion A.Net is retarded for making the obwerver mode start up in something that would be considered a nice demo for the game. Auto-camera is terrible.

Calm down, this whole section is just a wish-list. Nothing wrong with that.

I particularly like the idea of posting matches of the week on a website, great promotion for GW pvp.

For those of you naging about Fraps and similar software, I have a feeling the original poster is talking about replay files *not* movie files in the OP.

Beeing able to save replays and share them with people on the internet would be a very very good idea. It would deffinatly strenghten the PvP community in GuildWars, particulary if the replays could be rated by users like the OP mentions. I don't think it should be limited to beeing hosted on GuildWars.com though. Using the "save as" function should just download the replay file to your computer, which you could then upload somewhere.

And it wouldn't be too much work for the devs either. ANet obviously have some way of storing matches in a replay format which the observer engine is able to play back, so the functionality is allready there. The stand-alone observer client is also a great idea, and once again it would use functionality allready there.

Um, no.

- I can't do these things for a match that happened last week, but that I want to review now.
- I can't do these things for any match (only matches that have a highly-ranked guild in them, or whatever the criteria for inclusion in Observer mode morph into).

Let's be clear - I think Observer mode is wonderful. It just doesn't do enough. Yep, I'm being picky. Yep, I'd be shocked if the company hadn't already thought of my suggestion. But, I'm also indicating my interest in their developing a tool for saving and viewing matches 'offline,' so to speak.

Such a tool would be great for the community, as others have stated, and would increase my interest in PvP. Sounds like a good thing for anet.

Thanks.
